About the low emission freight trial
The project aimed to reduce congestion and pollution in central London caused by the growth of light freight travel.
We did this by prioritising fewer, but fuller, light freight vehicles on the roads. We also encouraged consumer deliveries to be done outside peak hours and took journeys away from busy, polluted main roads. We consolidated deliveries to reduce the number of pick-ups/drop-offs and promoted the use of low emission vehicles.

The Mayor’s low emission freight trial ran from 2014-2016 with the support of partners Gnewt Cargo and Transport for London.
