EIR - EV Charging points [May 2023]

Key information

Request reference number: MGLA200423-5355

Date of response:

Summary of request

Your request
  1. The number of charging points for electric vehicles installed by your local authority
  2. The cost of installing these charging points
Our response

The Greater London Authority is not a local authority, but rather the strategic body overseeing Greater London policy. To date, Transport for London (TfL), a statutory body of the GLA, has installed 300 rapid and ultra-rapid charge points across the TfL Road Network. We do not hold the data for the associated cost. You may wish to send a further request to TfL at [email protected].

Other GLA Group organisations, including the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service, have installed private charge points for their own use. You may wish to contact them directly for more information.

In total, as of May 2023, there are around 12,800 public charge points in London. The London Boroughs have been responsible for the installation of the large majority of charge points in Greater London, and I would recommend you contact them individually for more details. Alternatively, I would recommend contacting London Councils directly, who represent all 33 boroughs.
