Happy Trustees Week 2020
Trustees are the volunteers that advise volunteer organisations and charities. This can include advice on managing people, fundraising or strategic planning, all with the goal of helping them achieve their objectives. Trustees can affect positive change within an organisation, and we think you should start now.
Farah’s story
Farah Elahi became a trustee for the Runnymede Trust in 2018 –
‘I really love the organisation and believe in the work that they are trying to do.
After working there as a researcher in a previous role, I jumped at the opportunity to continue to be part of the organisations as a Trustee and support the staff team working on tackling racism.’
Being a Trustee has helped Farah understand more about the mechanics of running a charity and it has given her the opportunity to have real impact on a social issue that’s important to her.
Could you become a trustee?
A trustee role can be both interesting and rewarding and everyone has something to offer. Lived experience is as important as other social and professional skills. It is also a great role for personal development.
