Summary of petition
“Delighted as we are that TfL are re-routing the B16 bus through the purpose-built Moorhead Way Turning-Circle until 2018, we the undersigned the residents of Brooklands Park Estate know that it is absolutely essential that the 178 bus is also included with the B16 bus in the usage of this turning-circle for the next 5 years – the 178 bus is our direct life-line to 2 major hospitals, Lewisham Hospital and Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital (Woolwich); do not move it out of reach of those who need it most”

“Dear Len
Re: Petition received at the London Assembly (Plenary) Meeting on 9 October 2013
Thank you for the petition which you presented to the London Assembly on 9 October.
As you know, a number of roads in the vicinity of the Kidbrooke Village development have been closed to allow the works to take place and, as a result, Transport for London (TfL) has had to change a number of local bus routes. While I appreciate the inconvenience this may cause to some passengers, I can assure you that TfL worked closely with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the developer to maintain local residents’ access to the bus network.
I am glad to hear your constituents are please the TfL was able to keep the service of bus route B16 on Moorehead Way thanks to the provision of a new turning circle. This was done at a low cost and with minimal impact on existing passengers. Unfortunately, while TfL also looked at the feasibility of re-routing bus route 178, I am afraid if found that this option would be prohibitively expensive and would inconvenience many more passengers that it would benefit.
I note that there is a convenient interchange between bus routesB16 and 178 on kidbrooke Park Road, which provides links to the Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth hospitals, as well as Lewisham bus and train stations. TfL will, of course, continue work with the borough and developer as the developer as the redevelopment plans are implemented."
