The Mayor of London has responded to the London Assembly Education Panel's report; London learners, London lives: Tackling the school places crisis and supporting children to achieve the best they can.
In a letter addressed to Panel Chair, Jennette Arnold OBE AM, the Mayor agrees with or has already taken measures to implement all of the recommendations made by the Panel, including:
The requirement for a strategic pupil places needs assessment.
Mapping out of the land and assets available to provide options for meeting the need for new school places.
City level comparators in line with the Programme of International Student Assessment (PISA) being developed.
Performance data being drawn from all schools in London and published in the Annual London Education Report.
The Mayor congratulated the Panel on the success of the report, which was published in September 2014.
