Central London Ultra Low Emission Zone 2020 Report

This report evaluates the impact of the central London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) during 2020. It also evaluates how well the fleet of heavy and large vehicles is prepared for the introduction of new, tighter, emissions standards for the London-wide Low Emission Zone (LEZ).

Compliance with the ULEZ and LEZ standards has continued to grow throughout 2020 despite the pandemic; showing that schemes such as ULEZ and LEZ are effective in achieving significant AQ reductions. In December 2020 over 90 per cent of cars in the ULEZ area were complied with the standards.

By the end of 2020 nearly 90 per cent of affected vehicles were already compliant with the new LEZ standards, up from only 71 per cent in May 2019.
