London continues to face serious issues with the availability and affordability of housing.
Research from Chestertons states that the number of homes to rent in London fell between July 2021 and July 2022 by 38 per cent[2] and there have been reports that the fall has resulted in rising prices and private renters being pushed to offer over asking price due to intense competition.
The London Assembly Housing Committee will tomorrow discuss the Government's latest housing reforms, as well as the levelling up agenda.
Will proposed housing reforms make a real difference to the security and quality of homes? And what is being done for first-time buyers in the capital?
The guests are:
- Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development
- Geeta Nanda OBE, Chief Executive of Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing and Chair of the G15
- Dr Anna Minton, writer and journalist / Reader in Architecture at the University of East London
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 21 September 2022 from 10.00am in the Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
