The Mayor of London’s Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) is holding a construction careers fair on 12 April at Brent Civic Centre to encourage local jobseekers to find work in the construction, development, and planning sectors.

The event will bring together OPDC’s jobs brokerage service, The Forge@ParkRoyal (The Forge), with more than 25 leading employers from across construction, development and civil engineering sectors including HS2, Laing O’Rourke, The Berkeley Group and Balfour Beatty to showcase their current job opportunities.

From apprenticeships to paid work placements, local jobseekers can find out more about careers in development and construction, apply for jobs and meet employers directly.

The Forge team will also be on hand to offer personalised career advice, CV writing support and interview training, making it easier to apply for your dream job or next career move.

The Forge is Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC)’s business support, recruitment, and up-skilling service, dedicated to supporting both businesses and job seekers across the three boroughs. It is a partnership between OPDC, the London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham, the Department for Work and Pensions, Shaw Trust and West London College.

The Forge has already placed over 170 local people into employment and continues to support many more. Our careers fair offers West Londoners the chance to meet some of the biggest construction and engineering industries and find out about the amazing jobs and apprenticeships on offer.
David Lunts, OPDC Chief Executive
The Forge@ParkRoyal is here to support all jobseekers across Brent, Ealing, and Hammersmith & Fulham. A career in construction isn’t always about muddy boots and hard hats and there are lots of varied and exciting roles available at the careers fair, through routes you might not have been aware of before.
Billy Seago, The Forge@ParkRoyal Manager
The collaboration The Forge@ParkRoyal team has built with industry leading employers in the construction sector has provided the residents of Ealing, Brent & Hammersmith & Fulham with a great opportunity to hear first-hand the range and scope of career opportunities available to them. Setting up clear pathways for residents to enter this sector for employment, gives local people access to local job and sustainable careers. I’m looking forward to meeting engaged employers and talented candidates on the 12th of April at Brent Civic Centre.
Paul Nicholas, Acting Head of Shaw Trust WLA Employability Contracts
We’re delighted to be supporting this event. HS2’s new superhub station at Old Oak Common will be the best connected and largest new railway station ever built in the UK and it’s vital that local people play a part in its construction.
