Call for local artists: OPDC announces exciting paid commission for local creative community

Created on
13 February 2024

The Mayor of London’s development corporation for West London, Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) has announced a paid opportunity for local artists to participate in an exciting new publication – the Old Oak West Ideas Book.

OPDC is commissioning local artists, illustrators, designers, and creatives for an opportunity to create a series of artworks that will feature in the Old Oak West Ideas Book.

Old Oak West is a regeneration project within the OPDC area that aims to deliver an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable new urban district with new homes, jobs and facilities on land around the proposed Old Oak Common Station and beyond.

Throughout 2023, OPDC undertook an extensive community engagement programme, working directly with the local community to better understand their priorities and to gather feedback that will help shape the future of Old Oak West.

The Old Oak West Ideas Book will capture local people’s feedback, creative ideas, and perspectives on what the future of Old Oak West means to them.

OPDC is looking for artists, illustrators, designers, and creatives who have a connection to the local area and will be able to bring the local community’s voice to life with creativity and imagination.

The opportunity is open to artists, illustrators, designers, photographers, and creatives at all stages of education and career and each artist will each be paid for their contribution.

The deadline for artists to submit an expression of interest is 11.59pm 18th February 2024.

Through our extensive co-design programme held throughout 2023, we worked closely with the local community - listening to their views and exploring how we can jointly create a new urban district that truly reflects local needs and aspirations.

The Old Oak West Ideas Book will enable us to create a vivid and exciting publication that translates what the local community has told us they want to see. We welcome applications from all artists, makers, and designers from across the area and look forward to working with the talented creative community to bring this exciting vision to life.
