Improvements to Harlesden Canalside
OPDC is starting work on a new local improvement project designed to make Harlesden Canalside a more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable place.
Our plans were extensively shaped by views from the local community and have ensured that the improvement works best meet the needs of residents, businesses, boaters, and visitors.
In partnership with Brent Council and the Canal & River Trust, we are delivering:
- A widened towpath to provide better access for everyone
- A new amphitheatre for people to sit and enjoy the canal, large enough to host community outdoor events
- New planting and seating
- New and improved Boaters’ Hub which will provide water, improved bin storage, new boaters facilities, space for maintenance and small boat repairs in a dedicated space
- Improved canoe facilities for the Sharks Canoe Club
- Dedicated spaces for local community organisations to moor their narrow boats
Construction will take place from April 2023 and will complete in Autumn 2023.
In order to undertake this work, a small section of the canal towpath will be closed to the public and a diversion route put in place. The below map shows the location of the diversion route.
