What if other repairs to my home need to be carried out before the improvements can be made?

During the initial survey undertaken by RetrofitWorks, additional repairs may be identified that are needed to make sure the energy efficiency improvements work properly. The full list of additional repairs that might be needed is too long to be included here in full, but examples include fixing or replacing ventilation fans; widening loft hatches; repointing brickwork or clearing gutters.

If additional repairs are required, these will be included in the estimated cost of the improvements. If the costs of improvements are greater than the available funding, it will not be possible to carry all of them out. RetrofitWorks may be able to offer alternative improvements.

The contractor will aim to leave your home in a similar condition to how it was before the improvements. However, it might not always be possible to restore your home exactly to how it was before the improvement was made. An example of this would be where internal wall insulation is installed; in this case it would be reasonable to expect the wall to be painted in a neutral colour, but not to match the previous colour of the wall or replace wallpaper.
