The aviation sector must meet tough greenhouse gas targets or risk undermining the UK’s quest to stop extreme climate change.
But Heathrow expansion has factored in a 40 per cent increase in emissions by 2030. The scheme now faces a slew of legal challenges, including one supported by the Mayor.
At an informal briefing, the London Assembly Environment Committee will tomorrow examine the implications of growing aviation emissions and how they figure in the case against Heathrow expansion.
The following guests will attend:
- Adrian Gault, Chief Economist, Government Committee on Climate Change
- Tim Crosland, Director, Plan B
- Cait Hewitt, Deputy Director, Aviation Environment Federation
This briefing will take place on Thursday 11 October at 10.30am in The Chamber, City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via YouTube.
