London is nearly 50 per cent green, and these green spaces bring great benefits to health, wellbeing and quality of life. But that green space is unequally distributed around the city, and not all of it is accessible—some is private and some unwelcoming.
This means that some areas and communities are less likely to have good quality green space on their doorsteps.
The London Assembly Environment Committee will tomorrow discuss the distribution of green space and its impact on quality of life for Londoners.
The guests are:
- Peter Massini, Principal Policy and Programme Officer (Green Infrastructure), GLA
- Helen Monger, Director, London Parks & Garden Trust
- Tony Leach, Chief Executive, Parks for London
- Dave Morris, Chair, National Federation of Parks and Green Spaces
- Chris Whyte, Operational Director – Environmental Services, London Borough of Brent; Green Space lead, London Environment Directors’ Network
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 22 May at 10.00am in Committee Room 2, at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed via webcast and YouTube channel.
