Just 0.6 per cent of homes in the UK are in housing co-operatives, but their model of collective ownership/management and low rents is unusual, and a key attraction for residents.
In this second and final meeting, the London Assembly Housing Committee will hear about the various models operated by London’s housing co-operatives.
The Committee will also quiz policymakers and practitioners about how the Mayor, the boroughs and the banks could help give the sector a boost.
- What are the pros and cons of co-operative models of housing in London?
- Is access to land the clinching factor for community-led models to work?
- Could the Mayor and the boroughs do more to resolve land issues?
- Is the Mayor’s funding being used to best advantage?
The meeting will take place on Thursday 05 October from 3:30 pm in Committee Room 5 (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1 2AA).
