Renewable energy sources

  • Reference: 2007/2834
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
With oil prices moving closer towards $100 per barrel, should this not trigger more interest in renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in London. How will you respond to this challenge apart from all your other initiatives on this front?

Ending of pedestrian crossings

  • Reference: 2007/2833
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Peter Hendy said recently that TfL would like to remove traffic signals that do not add to road safety in order to improve congestion. Does this spell the end of pedestrian crossings with lights along roads like Marylebone and Edgware Road?

What role, if any, do city funds have to play in tackling gang culture?

Junction of St George's Rd and Lambeth Rd

  • Reference: 2007/2831
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
I am concerned that St George's Road is a one way wide Red Route road with heavy, fast traffic and yet the outdoor sports facilities for Notre Dame School are in Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, so the girls are forced to cross the main road. At the moment they use the very cumbersome and inadequate pelican crossings at the junction of St George's Rd and Lambeth Rd. In this close vicinity there are 4 schools, one Cathedral, the Imperial War museum and the park. It seems to me that the area needs better urban design with safer crossing facilities, better...

W3 Bus route

  • Reference: 2007/2830
  • Question by: Joanne McCartney
  • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Thank you for your answer to my question 2362/2007. Can you please update me with regard to your request to TfL that they follow up my concerns regarding the W3 bus? I am still receiving complaints from residents that they are being forced to disembark at Compton Road, N17 on a regular basis.

184 bus route

  • Reference: 2007/2829
  • Question by: Joanne McCartney
  • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Residents have raised the issue of the 184 buses with me, operated by Arriva. A few years ago, TfL bought Arriva additional single-decker buses following a local campaign to stop Arriva using double-decker buses on a single-decker bus route. The situation seemed solved until only a few weeks back when Arriva once more started to make use of double-decker buses on the 184 route (these double-deckers have been noted during all different periods of the day and even at 01:30 in the morning!). I would be grateful if you could clarify what happened to the single-decker buses bought for Arriva...

Traffic light phasing at Green Lanes/Hedge Lane/Bourne Hill junction

  • Reference: 2007/2828
  • Question by: Joanne McCartney
  • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Local residents are concerned over the lack of pedestrian crossing facilities at the Green Lanes/Hedge Lane/Bourne Hill junction in Enfield, particularly as the junction is close to a school, nursery and a youth club. Modelling work has been undertaken including the provision of pedestrian crossings on all sections of the junction. However, the most favoured solution seems to be to extend the inter-green time (the time between which one arm loses right of way and the next gains right of way) and Enfield Council is currently liaising with TfL to approve these amendments. However, as cars enter the middle of...

ESF and ERDF Funding

  • Reference: 2007/2827
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
How will European Social Fund and European Regional Development Fund funding be better directed now that it falls under GLA administration?

Metronet Borrowings

  • Reference: 2007/2826
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Following its fall into administration did TfL remove the inherited Government commitment to underwrite 95% of Metronet's borrowings? What advice was taken before this decision was made given that it would clearly render the contracts less attractive to alternative bidders?
