The Event

  • Reference: 2008/0548
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 12 March 2008
I know that you believe community festivals and events are vitally important for local people both in terms of cohesion and identity for a local area and also for local economies in terms of attracting visitors. I would like to bring your attention to 'The Event' an annual family festival event, organised by local volunteers in Southwark Park. This year, Southwark Council has decided to cut its funding of the event by £40k leaving the organisers facing severe financial difficulties and putting the future of this highly popular, high quality and well run event in jeopardy. Will you join me...

Motorcycle Parking

  • Reference: 2008/0542
  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 12 March 2008
Are TfL in discussion with London Councils and the London Boroughs about the levels of motorcycle parking in London? As most Councils determine motorcycle parking spaces individually on a borough basis do you think there should be a consistent Londonwide policy on motorcycle parking?

  • Reference: 2008/0798
  • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
  • Meeting date: 12 March 2008
Does the Mayor believe that it sends a good signal to children to allow them to travel at taxpayers' expense? Does this not promote the dependency culture?

London's democratic deficit

  • Reference: 2008/0796
  • Question by: Damian Hockney
  • Meeting date: 12 March 2008
Given your open contempt for the London Assembly and many of its members, as expressed in answer to my question 532/2008, do you consider that its £8 million budget would be better spent by the Evening Standard and BBC, which are not subject to the same red tape in obtaining information from your office?
