  • Question by: Murad Qureshi

Would TfL be willing to have it serve all District Line stations on the stretch between South Kensington and Chiswick Park?

Real Estate Moorings in the River Thames

  • Reference: 2008/0574
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 12 March 2008
A planning application was submitted to the LB of Hounslow for residential use of the barge CUJO moored in the Thames and converted into 7 flats. The owner claims that it will provide a source of low cost housing. How legitimate is it for a developer to take up such a big chunk of the River Thames with a 38x 5,5m barge for commercial use and can we expect to see more of these real estate moorings appear in the future? Are developers offering such accommodation exempt from having to comply with building regulations that apply for normal housing?

Raw Sewage River Lea

  • Reference: 2008/0573
  • Question by: Murad Qureshi
  • Meeting date: 12 March 2008
A large number of new or refurbished homes along the River Lea have had misconnected plumbing installed by builders, who mixed up plumbing for rainwater and toilet waste. These faulty draining systems pump raw sewage into the River Lea, which then flows directly into the waters surrounding the Olympics site. Adding to the problem are the Deephams sewage works in Edmonton releasing effluence into the river when heavy rain pushes the tanks to capacity. What can be done to ensure builders and homeowners properly install domestic plumbing to help prevent the river Lea becoming polluted?
