Summer 2012

  • Reference: 2011/3007
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
Has Transport for London undertaken any computer modelling on the impact on air quality of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Olympic Route Network and/or the Paralympic Route Network and if so are any of these events expected to give rise to increases in air pollution or breaches of air quality law(s)? What contingency plans do you have in place to reduce air pollution if there is a smog episode during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Olympic Games or the Paralympics Games?

Dust suppressants

  • Reference: 2011/3005
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
Do you accept that offsetting air pollution, for example through the use of dust suppressants or green walls, is not a sustainable solution given that sooner or later you will run out of dust suppressants or wall space? Do you accept that reducing air pollution in front of official monitoring stations, such as through the use of dust suppressants, will create the impression that air pollution is lower than it actually is in London?

Air Quality and the Olympics

  • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
Will you comment on the Motion passed unanimously by the Westminster Amenity Societies Forum on 27 September 2011, and subsequently supported by the Campaign for Clean Air in London, that said: 'Air quality within the City of Westminster must be taken fully into account by those responsible for the transport arrangements during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The aim must be to protect public health; and minimise general traffic and other restrictions. In order to help achieve this, the most polluting vehicles should be excluded during the 100 day period covering the main events. The...

Transport links to North Middlesex University Hospital

  • Reference: 2011/3003
  • Question by: Joanne McCartney
  • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
Following the decision by Andrew Lansley to downgrade Chase Farm Hospital, my residents needing treatments or visiting ill relatives and friends will need to travel instead to North Middlesex University Hospital. Please can you instruct your officers at TfL to begin looking at improving public transport links now, particularly from Winchmore Hill and Chase areas of Enfield, so that these transport services are ready for when the hospital changes occur next year?

World Health Day

  • Question by: Navin Shah

Thank you for your answer to Question 2712 regarding the promotion of good mental health services for all Londoners through your Health Inequalities Strategy. With that in mind, and following on from a request from a constituent, how will you mark World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2011?

Route 3 in Lambeth

  • Reference: 2011/3001
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
As you may be aware, there have been long term problems with route 3 in Lambeth. I have looked at TfL's performance data for route 3 from July 2010 to July 2011 in response to a query from a constituent of mine and TfL have acknowledged that route 3 has performed poorly over the last few months. There needs to be better transport services between Crystal Palace and Brixton. Will you please consider rectifying this problem?

Impact of removal of South London Line service on disabled people

  • Reference: 2011/2997
  • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
  • Meeting date: 12 October 2011
I am still deeply concerned that the major hospitals in my Constituency - Kings, South London & Maudsley and Guys and St Thomas's will suffer disproportionate impact from the scrapping of the South London Line service when you remove the funding from this line in 2012. Denmark Hill station is currently undergoing accessibility works to make it more useful for patients attending Kings and SLAM, yet this station will have much depleted services after the removal of the SLL. Why are you supporting the removal of a key long standing public transport service to essential hospital staff and vulnerable patients?
