A recent investigation by the London Assembly's Environment Committee [Branching out: the future for London's street trees] found wide variation in the amount different boroughs spend on maintaining trees. Given your commitment to increase the number of street trees planted across London, will you also encourage boroughs to commit the necessary resources to ensure street trees are properly maintained, for example by adopting a common tree valuation approach such as CAVAT (Capital Asset Value for Amenity Trees)? Please also confirm whether trees planted through your mayoral programme will continue to receive maintenance funding for one year?
