London Bus Data (1) (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Neil Garratt
  • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
Neil Garratt AM: Hello. Just on the topic of buses and data, which we have spoken about before, one bit of data that TfL does publish, in a way that is quite hard to get hold of, is people hospitalised or killed in collisions involving London buses. I asked you previously if you agreed with me that that information should not be hidden away but should be presented to the TfL Board by the TfL Commissioner because it is important information in relation to your Vision Zero and each quarter, each Board meeting, how we are progressing on that. The...

ULEZ-Scrapped Vehicles to Ukraine (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Gareth Roberts
  • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
Gareth Roberts AM: Thank you. As there is money left in the pot, would you reconsider your decision not to allow retrospective applications [to the ULEZ scrappage scheme] from people who got rid of their cars doing the right thing in order that they can benefit as well?

Global leadership on reducing traffic (Supplementary) [4]

  • Question by: Andrew Boff
  • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
Andrew Boff AM: If we could just go on the clock. Mr Mayor, we talked about 20-mile-per-hour zones and how they are creating some difficulties. Could you undertake for me to talk to the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association (LTDA) about the 20-mile-per-hour limit? I know in theory it sounds like a good idea but, if these guys get a few points, they can lose their business. They can lose their means of putting bread on their table. I would ask you to renew contacts with the LTDA and to listen to their concerns about the way in which 20-mile-per-hour limits...

Global leadership on reducing traffic (Supplementary) [3]

  • Question by: Leonie Cooper
  • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
Léonie Cooper AM: Thank you very much, Chair. Just to pick up some points that Assembly Member Georgiou was making, I know you have been here for only three weeks, but just to come back to the point that Assembly Member Russell started with, I was here when the MTS was signed off by this Assembly in 2018 and it does say 80 per cent of journeys by 2041 should be done by active travel or public transport. It does not say 100 per cent, does it? That, in my maths, leaves 20 per cent of journeys that might always...

Global leadership on reducing traffic (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
Len Duvall AM (Deputy Chair): Thank you, Mr Mayor. I, too, agree with you about the principle of reducing speed on our roads, but the blanket reduction to 20 miles an hour does cause some problems in certain sections of roads. When we come to review, will TfL set out clearly what the parameters of that review are? I will give you an example of the South Circular in my part. I am pretty fed up with seeing buses going past me when I am following the 20-mile-an-hour limit. I am fed up with cyclists going past me when the...

Global leadership on reducing traffic (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Alessandro Georgiou
  • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
Alessandro Georgiou AM: Thank you, Chair. There has been a war on motorists, whether it be by the ULEZ expansion, LTNs or 20-mile-per-hour zones. Now, Mr Mayor, you have already set out your agenda. It is in your manifesto. You have said it repeatedly over the last eight years and so this question is not a debate on your priorities. But do you understand that in outer London we do need our cars for travel, the disabled need their cars, parents on the school run need their cars, because not everyone lives within a mile of a primary or secondary...
