Council housing (1)

  • Reference: 2014/3227
  • Question by: Tom Copley
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
Do you agree that new build council housing should be exempt from the Right to Buy, given that it is clearly unfair and financially disadvantageous for councils to build these properties only for them to potentially be sold at a substantial discount a couple of years later?

Gypsy and traveller sites

  • Reference: 2014/3226
  • Question by: Tom Copley
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
Why do you believe boroughs appear to be reluctant to bring forward new housing sites for gypsies and travellers and what, in your opinion, can the Greater London Authority do to encourage the provision of more sites if this reluctance continues?

Section 106

  • Reference: 2014/3225
  • Question by: Tom Copley
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
Would you consider it acceptable for fewer social rent and Affordable Rent properties to be secured on a new development through section 106 agreements, if a developer delivered privately rented properties instead?

Welfare reform

  • Reference: 2014/3224
  • Question by: Tom Copley
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
Regarding your response to question 2014/2785, what other factors do you believe are causing increased hardship and financial difficulties for many London residents?

i. How many licensed buskers are there? ii. What provision is there for new applicants? iii. Is there a lower age limit? iv. Have any buskers been 'de-licensed' and how many complaints have been received? v. How much sponsorship income has been received? vi. Are any new pitches proposed? vii. Are you proposing licensed busking at any other locations (i.e. other than the tube) on the transport network?

Stratford Zones 2/3

  • Reference: 2014/3222
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
I regret your decision that West Ham and Canning Town should not also become Zone 2/3 stations but respect that this is your decision. Can you confirm that a passenger who in innocence purchases a zone 1 & 2 ticket to travel from Stratford to Central London will not be penalised or face a fine or prosecution if they choose to travel on the Jubilee Line to make that journey, even though they will technically be straying into zone 3.

New Routemaster Bus One Person Operation

  • Reference: 2014/3221
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
Do you remain happy that OPO is not causing difficulties for the operation of these services, in particular for customer safety and risk of crime? I am particularly anxious about the effect of open access through any of the doors, without the passive supervision that flows from walking past the driver and presenting an Oyster Card by the front door, as this was a factor in the insecurity experienced by Bendy-Bus passengers.

Gallions Crossing

  • Reference: 2014/3220
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
Can you spell out the timeline, for the key stages, for the design, permission and construction of a Gallions Crossing, based on a realistic path? Are you commissioning any related work on the economic and regeneration benefits and environmental consequences, and their management, of a crossing?

New River Crossings - Ruse or Reality

  • Reference: 2014/3219
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
While welcoming your surprise announcement that two further river crossings might be built, can you confirm that your clear policy preference will be for building, subject to design and consultation, a crossing at Gallions Reach and that the proposed further 'Belvedere Crossing' is not simply proposed to confuse and further delay decision making.

City Airport Expansion

  • Reference: 2014/3218
  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 17 September 2014
I remain a strong supporter of City Airport but with the caveat that the environmental problems it causes need to be carefully managed. Can you confirm how you are using your powers to ensure that the noise and air quality 'footprints' of the airport are minimised and kept on a steady downward path?
