Justification for the Metropolitan Police Service recording and retaining information

  • Reference: 2015/0051
  • Question by: Jenny Jones
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
Thank you for your answer to my question 2014/5068 which states the MPS "only conduct operations and investigations against individuals who are suspected to be involved in crime". My Subject Access Request, which allowed me to see the files held about me on the Metropolitan Police’s database of ‘Domestic Extremists’, includes a note that I was a speaker at the Progressive London Conference on Saturday 24/01/2009 between 10.00-17.30. Please specify what crime was linked to this event which justified the Metropolitan Police recording and retaining this information about me?

As you may be aware, I have championed homeless veterans in the past and have secured vital financial assistance for them. The question that I have tabled is suitably wide to allow the debate to range across really the whole gamut of issues. The question that I am putting is: could you set out the likely benefits for London and the possible risks of the proposed MDC for Old Oak and Park Royal? Now, I accept you may...

The floor is yours.

Preston Road Metropolitan Line

  • Reference: 2014/5935
  • Question by: Navin Shah
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
I recently met with a local resident, who has requested that a bus countdown timer is placed at the two bus stops outside Preston Road Metropolitan Line station. I understand that these bus stops serve routes 79, 204 and 223 which stop at Preston Road station. Preston Road station is a busy commuter hub, particularly during the weekday peak periods. Furthermore, Preston Road area is a popular local shopping destination where people are encouraged to use public transport. The provision of bus time information would greatly assist and encourage people to make more use of buses. Will you therefore consider...
