At the Police and Crime Committee meeting on 23 March 2017, I asked the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) about the release of alarming images of guns and knives retrieved in surrender initiatives to the press and social media. The committee's recent report on youth violence concluded that fear of danger from weapons is a driving factor for some young people carrying weapons. This section states that that the authority may promote a local Bill in Parliament for any purpose which is for the public benefit of the inhabitants of, or of any part of, Greater London.
