Consultations

  • Question by: Tony Devenish
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2018
Given the concern expressed to me and other Assembly Members regarding various Police or TfL public consultations, would the Mayor recommend that all Londoners - including members of residents' associations - take the time to have their individual say, on a "one person one vote" basis, in order that an organised pressure group cannot skew a result statistically?

Using the 'Big Four' audit firms

  • Reference: 2018/0776
  • Question by: Tony Devenish
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2018
Karthik Ramanna, a professor at Oxford University's Blavatnik School of Government, recently raised concerns in a Financial Times article about a lack of competition in the audit market, which is widely viewed as being dominated by the 'Big Four': EY, Deloitte, KPMG and PwC. Can the Mayor please advise of their dominance in GLA organisations by outlining the number of audits carried out over the past three years and the names of the firms employed? What more can be done to offer an even playing field to other, smaller audit firms? https://www.ft.com/content/b9dbd1cc-23a5-11e8-ae48-60d3531b7d11

London Borough of Culture

  • Reference: 2018/0775
  • Question by: Tony Devenish
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2018
It has been reported that the London Borough of Brent spent £70,000 on its bid for London Borough of Culture. If each London Borough spend a similar sum when the prize offered by you is £1 million, isn't this a waste of public money?
