NHS Deficits (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Bob Neill
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2006
I am grateful to the Mayor for that careful reply and I know he has been well briefed on the issue. I do not want to get into the knockabout we had in the previous discussion with this because it is an issue of some importance to Londoners. However, I am sure you would agree it must be a matter of concern that despite that record level of expenditure, nonetheless ' despite that increased investment ' the NHS is facing its biggest ever deficit. The deficit in London is some £240.5 million. That is certainly causing trusts to have to...

Travelcards (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: John Biggs
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2006
I am very grateful for that reply. Indeed, when this question was submitted I do not think the announcement on under-11 free travel had been made. That has helped to address some of the anxiety and protests that many of us have heard about the withdrawal of the family travelcard. The biggest area of residual concern is about kids who travel to school on the Underground. I suppose I should declare an interest in that I am the owner of a kid who does such a journey, but in my case as an Assembly Member I am wealthy enough for...

Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2006
Thank you for that. Can I just take you back to what you were saying about the lap dancing? Can you just tell us what the cost of the appeal would be and what are their chances? It is my understanding that when you go to appeal against the decision, the chances are very low of winning an appeal.

Superboroughs (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Darren Johnson
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2006
I think we still need to explore it a little bit. You have made your position clear ' you would like to see the 32 boroughs abolished and five superboroughs created. You then also said later on that you would like to see the Assembly abolished and the 25 Assembly Members being replaced by borough leaders. Presumably your ideal scenario would be simply having five superborough leaders not only being responsible for making all the key decisions in those boroughs but also then holding you to account. You would basically have six people making all the key decisions in London...

Reporting on Olympics Employment (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Darren Johnson
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2006
Is the ODA going to be accountable on all this and is it going to publish the figures?

Meeting the Prime Minister (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Graham Tope
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2006
I think that was the visit that arose due to the state of correspondence, of which you very helpfully read Tony Blair's reply out for the record.

Discussions with Ministers (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Geoff Pope
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2006
This particular proposal, there are no plans at all for at the moment if it is not in any of those programmes?

Sport for Disabled Children: Transport (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Dee Doocey
  • Meeting date: 22 March 2006
I do not actually have any major concerns about the Olympics themselves. If they go according to all of the stuff in the bid document, everything should be fine. I can see that appropriate things have been put in place to make sure that they are fully accessible. My concern is the situation at the moment. How are we ever going to grow Olympic athletes if we have a major situation, which we do, in that children with disabilities cannot get to after-school clubs in order to participate in sport and are in many ways being completely marginalised from any...
