Vaccine roll-out (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: David Kurten
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
David Kurten AM: Good morning again, Mr Mayor. You said in that previous answer that you think the vaccines are safe. There are two things wrong with that statement, Mr Mayor. There are three vaccines - or what have been called vaccines - that are being used. Two of those are not vaccines in the sense that most people would understand vaccines. They are experimental mRNA gene technologies that have never been used before on human beings. We do not know anything about their long-term safety. How could you say that you know about the safety, particularly for pregnant women...

London's economy in 2021 (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Susan Hall
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Susan Hall AM: I will start by saying thank you to the Mayor for supporting the vaccines so robustly. I would suggest that all Assembly Members do. We have already put 5 million jabs into the arms of residents and we should be very proud of that. On that, Mr Mayor, thank you for your support for the vaccines. The question was about Brexit. I know, Mr Mayor, you constantly find fault with Brexit, but may I remind you that if it were not for Brexit, we would not have all these vaccines? Europe, very sadly, is in a right...

London's economy in 2021 (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Joanne McCartney
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Joanne McCartney AM: Mr Mayor, during this pandemic, the Government has been behind the curve on many issues and, as a result, we have seen indecision and a series of U-turns on many essential matters. How has this affected London’s ability to counter the effects of the pandemic?

Cost of Living (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Keith Prince
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Keith Prince AM: Thank you, Chair. Very quickly, Mr Mayor, in relation to the border tax, this will be devastating for my patch, Havering and Redbridge, both of which are border towns. Also, will you be doing any impact assessment on that before you introduce it, Mr Mayor?

TfL station car park developments (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Alison Moore
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Dr Alison Moore AM: Thank you very much, Chair. I think nobody who has been on this Assembly or a councillor would disagree with the fact that there is a real and clear need for genuinely affordable housing, particularly for families, although not only for families, in London. We are all very grateful that one of the first things you did as Mayor was to scrap that definition of affordable housing being 80% of the market rate, which [The Rt Hon] Boris Johnson [MP, Prime Minister] brought in when he was Mayor. If the Government changed its rules around affordable...

Net loss of council homes (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Leonie Cooper
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Léonie Cooper AM: Yes. Thank you, Chair. Mr Mayor, I note that our colleague’s figures start from 2003, although she does admit that it is the Government’s new planning regulations, which are obviously beyond your control, which mean estates are under threat. The estate regeneration ballot policy, which is very popular, is something she has tried on occasion to take credit for. Of course, Mr Mayor, you have boosted the number of council-rented homes being built since 2016. I wondered if you could give a proper comparison that will clear up any misapprehensions on her part. Thank you.

Surface water flooding (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Len Duvall AM: Thank you. Mr Mayor, thank you for your answers and this is a very important debate. Will you commit yourself, GLA officers and TfL officers to sitting round with key members of the London Assembly to do some verbal work on this? This is a real good example where we can do some joint work. You have a grip of the issue, despite what the Green Group says about you and your targets. We have a plan. It would be really helpful. We in the Labour Group have done a report on flooding. Can we sit round...

Oral Update to the Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [2]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2020
Len Duvall AM: Mr Mayor, from your report about the Brexit situation, can you confirm that there has been no further update or exchange between the Metropolitan Police [Service] (MPS) and the Government since the last Plenary meeting [11 December 2020] with you and the Commissioner [of Police of the Metropolis]? Do you think then that it is time to call for a disaggregation of this important European co-operation in tackling crime to be separated out from the wider agreements? At the moment, at this eleventh hour, it seems to me - I do not know if you agree -...

Oral Update to the Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Tony Devenish
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2020
Tony Devenish AM: Thank you very much. Mr Mayor, good morning. Will you publish the two engineering reports that Councillor Cowan of Hammersmith and Fulham is hiding from the public and open the Bridge for cyclists and pedestrians before school reopens in January [2021], please?

Financial Performance (Supplementary) [1]

  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2020
Len Duvall AM: Thank you very much, Chair. If there is ever an abuse of process, it is laying down a question on financial performance and then talking about a member of staff. Please, you are having a laugh. Mr Mayor, can I ask you a question that concerns the financial performance and the budget issues relating to the GLA group? Can you outline to Londoners, as there are many misleading claims, and actually despicable fake information circulating and warning letters going around the communities at the moment - it has had coverage in a national newspaper about how fake...
