Students at the Team London Young Ambassadors summit

Exciting new phase for Young Ambassadors

10 January 2018

Team London is delighted to announce that we have partnered with WE Charity once more, and thanks to generous funding from the #iwill Fund we will continue delivering Team London Young Ambassadors until 2020.

Team London Young Ambassadors is the Mayor’s school volunteering programme, which connects young Londoners with their communities through social action. Since the programme began in 2013 we have helped 430,000 young people in over 2,000 schools across London start volunteering projects on issues they really care about. These include LGBTQ+, bullying, mental health, food poverty and homelessness.

The #iwill Fund is made possible thanks to £40 million joint investment from the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund (the largest funder of community activity in the UK) and the Government. The new funding will therefore help us target even more young people, as well as focus on areas of social deprivation and those at risk of becoming socially excluded. The funding will also allow us to reach 39,000 young people through inspirational assemblies, workshops and youth summits, delivered by WE Charity. These events and resources will support and encourage them to volunteer and participate in social action projects, as well as to increase connections to the local area.

The programme will also develop resources to be sent to schools, based on the Mayor’s priorities around social integration, the environment, homelessness, gender inequality, gangs and knife crime, mental health and wellbeing.
