Could you Teach London?

12 December 2017

We’ve just launched Teach London, our new website that tells people why London’s a great place to start and develop your teaching career, to London schools and the education community.

Now I want to spread the word to Londoners who may be thinking about their career options.

London’s schools are the best in the country. They are doing incredibly well in bridging the achievement gap between children from different backgrounds. But to do even better, they need more great teachers. It’s the only way young Londoners will continue to get such a brilliant education.

We want to help London schools and teacher training providers attract more trainee teachers – and keep them here.

Teaching is a challenging and rewarding job like no other. And London’s a fantastic classroom.

We’ve also got more teaching schools than anywhere else in England. They can give you the training, development and support you need to get you started and keep you going.

If you’re interested in becoming a teacher, we’ve put together a guide to help you navigate teacher training options. There’s also a map which shows where you can study and teach too. And if you’re still not sure, here’s a few more reasons why you should choose to teach in London.
