How is the Met’s Territorial Support Group policing in London?
The Metropolitan Police (the Met) Territorial Support Group (TSG) specialises in public order policing, including riots, large scale disorder and football crowds.
The TSG also has a role in other elements of policing, including forced entry into buildings, anti-terrorist arrests, removing protesters from ‘lock-on’ situations, and stop and search activity. It is split into four ‘areas’ operating from separate bases in Alperton, Chadwell Heath, Catford, and Clapham.
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will ask senior Met officers about the role of the TSG, how it is deployed, and how it is resourced, managed and scrutinised.
The guests are:
- Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan, Operations and Performance, Met Police
- Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, Operational Command Unit (OCU) Commander, MO7 Taskforce[1], Met Police
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 4 June 2025 from 10am in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
