Fixing systemic racism within the Met
The Met recently published an independent report by Dr Shereen Daniels into racism in the organisation.
The final report was commissioned by the Met to “assess the effectiveness and impact of the ‘London Race Action Plan’, the Met’s strategic framework for becoming an anti-racist organisation” and to examine how the Met has “responded to long-standing evidence of racism and discrimination”.1
The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will meet tomorrow for a Q&A session with the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, discussing progress on eradicating the systemic racism identified within the Met.
The Committee will also speak to the new Chief Executive Officer for the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) about MOPAC’s priorities for the year.
The guests are:
Panel One (10:00 – 11:00)
- Rena Lalgie, Chief Executive Officer, MOPAC
Panel Two (11:05 – 13:00):
- Kaya Comer-Schwartz, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime
- Kenny Bowie, Director of Strategy and MPS Oversight, MOPAC
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 19 November 2025 from 10am in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
