Environment Committee responds to Tube dust study

Tube Station
Created on
15 December 2022

Responding to a study by the University of Cambridge on London Underground air pollution, Zack Polanski AM, Chair of the London Assembly Environment Committee, said:

“The London Assembly Environment Committee has been raising the alarm for years about the dust on the London Underground and what potential health risks it could pose for both passengers and workers.

“Three years ago, we wrote to the Mayor calling for Transport for London to make Tube dust a bigger priority to ensure the wellbeing of everyone who uses the network.

“This new study sheds light on a potentially concerning element of London Underground air pollution at some of our city’s busiest stations and we will review the findings and what it means for Londoners with interest.”
