Anne Clarke AM announces support for Superloop limited stop bus service proposals
Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Anne Clarke has responded to Transport for London’s consultation on the proposed “Superloop” services with strong support. The Superloop is a proposed network of limited-stop express bus routes. It would circle the entire capital and connect key town centres, stations and transport hubs in outer London.
According to TfL, buses are the most affordable, accessible and available form of public transport in London. They are the main sustainable alternative to cars for journeys that can't easily be walked or cycled.
The Superloop is a further plan from the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to enhance outer London’s bus network. It would make it easier for Londoners to visit family and friends, get to school or go shopping, or travel for leisure in other parts of outer London. It could add over 4 million kilometres to outer London’s bus network.
Ms Clarke said:
‘I am a very strong supporter of the Superloop, and have written to TfL to express that. I have made a number of suggestions to strengthen the appeal and reach of the superloop, such as terminating the X183 at East Finchley after it connects with the X34 at North Finchley.
I have pressed again for other important bus service improvements requested by residents across Barnet, such as extending the 234 to Potters Bar, to improve connectivity for residents of Hadley Highstone, who would have a connection to the X34 at Friern Barnet Town Hall. I have also again made the case for a direct bus service between Stamford Hill and Golders Green, which would help connect two large Orthodox Jewish communities in North London.’
