Design Review
We have established two independent panels to support us in making high quality, innovative, sustainable places:
- the Place Review Group, made up of built environment professionals
- the Community Review Group made up of members of the local community.
Operating alongside each other, the panels provide independent, objective and expert advice to OPDC as the Local Planning Authority. The groups act as ‘critical friends’, supporting the delivery of high-quality development.
Design reviews are part of the Mayor of London’s ‘Good Growth by Design’ agenda which enables a more consistent and extensive use of review by independent professionals, enhancing the design of neighbourhoods and buildings for Londoners.
Place Review Group
Established in 2015, the OPDC Place Review Group helps to fulfil our aspirations to deliver development at a scale that is significant for both the London and the UK. This group has provided advice as a ‘critical friend’ to the OPDC, especially as the planning policy framework and implementation plan for Old Oak and Park Royal has been taken forward.
The Place Review Group brings together leading professionals, working at the highest level in their fields and is made up of 22 panel members, including the Chair.
Community Review Group
Instrumental in the design review, the OPDC Community Review Group gives local people an opportunity to have their say about the planning and urban design process.
The group ensures that new development considers opportunities to create a better urban environment for the people living and working in the area, both now and in the future. The group’s recommendations are taken seriously, and planning applicants are expected to respond to each one.
