The Mayor of London’s development corporation for Old Oak and Park Royal (OPDC) announces Klatch Studios as the first business to receive a loan of £48,000 from its new small business affordable workspace fund.
Klatch Studios provide affordable and eco-friendly studio space to bring West London stories to life through photography and film. The studio hosts the annual Ealing Novella Film Festival to celebrate and empower under-represented and diverse filmmakers.
The loan provided a new, fully equipped 2,323 sq. ft. film and photography studio and green room, enabling Klatch to employ new staff from OPDC’s area.
Funded by OPDC and the Mayor of London through the Acton and Park Royal Creative Enterprise Zone, OPDC’s Loan Fund makes affordable loan funding available to small businesses and workspace providers in the OPDC area.
A total of £300,000 of funding is available until March 2025 to support new and existing Park Royal-based food manufacturing and creative businesses to expand, as well as supporting affordable workspace providers to expand their premises.
Businesses in Park Royal interested in the Loan Fund, can get in touch by contacting [email protected] or submitting their Expression of Interest via the OPDC website.
OPDC’s Loan Fund supports high quality, genuinely affordable workspaces to thrive in the OPDC area, helping businesses to grow, creating more jobs for local people and boosting West London’s economy. Klatch Studios will now be able to improve and expand their sustainable studios. We are delighted to be a recipient of the OPDC Loan Fund. The loan has enabled us to fund the fit out of a higher spec soundproof film and photography studio to add to our existing offer in Park Royal.
It has also allowed us to invest in infrastructure needed to raise the EPC rating of our building significantly and make it far more eco-friendly, as well as hire a second studio manager local to the area. Without access to this capital, we wouldn't have been able to complete the project using the high standard of materials and construction needed to build a functional sound stage. We hope our new facility will be used by creatives in the immediate area - and we have a local creative discount scheme in place to incentivise this!
