“These are significant milestones towards unlocking the potential of Old Oak and Park Royal, which will become the gateway to the Midlands and the North. These important contracts will not only create jobs, but provide a clear signal that London is very much open for business!”

HS2 starts search for the superhub station construction team

Hot on the heels of last month's news about starting Civils work and shortlisting design teams, HS2 have announced that they have started the search for the superhub station construction team.

Bidders for both the Euston and Old Oak Common contracts are expected to be invited to tender by the end of the year, with contract award in autumn 2018.

We look forward to working with HS2 and the winning construction team to create a world class superhub station. We wish all bidding teams the best of luck.

Main Civils work and Old Oak station design

Leading the Main Civils work will be Skanska Construction UK Ltd, Costain Ltd, STRABAG AG (SCS Joint Venture) and bidding for the Old Oak station design are reported to include: Arup, Mott MacDonald, WSP, Arcadis and a Jacobs/BuroHappold/Idom joint venture.

We look forward to working with HS2 and SCS JV on the Main Civils work and expect to see some world class designs for the future super-hub station at Old Oak and Park Royal. We wish all bidding teams the best of luck and look forward to seeing your smart and exemplary designs.

As first spades go into the ground, this is a truly monumental occasion for us all as it marks the start of Old Oak and Park Royal beginning to transform into the new city of the west and where we'll see and be part of what is going to be the largest sub surface station ever built in the UK!
