Clarke demands superfast broadband for Colindale
Local London Assembly Member Anne Clarke AM has called on Openreach to provide much-needed Superfast Broadband to Colindale. In a letter to Openreach Chief Executive Clive Selley, Ms Clarke called it a scandal that the fast-growing housing developments in and around Colindale were not part of Openreach’s current rollout plans.
As many Londoners work from home, it is vital they have good connection to enable them to work remotely. However, intermittent service and unreliable speeds are making it difficult for them to work effectively.
Colindale is a quickly growing area, with a number of new homes built and even more on the horizon. It is crucial that these homes have good connectivity.
Ms Clarke said:
“When you consider the professional background of those moving to Colindale, it is vital that local infrastructure meets their working needs.
“Superfast broadband internet is not a luxury, it’s an economic necessity. Being unable to access reliable and fast internet is a real hindrance to those who work remotely, slowing down productivity and making the working day harder. Residents both new and existing benefit from better internet connectivity.
“That’s why I have called on Openreach to change their minds and ensure local exchanges are equipped with Superfast Broadband.”
