After a few surveys, several rounds of user testing and a discussion with some sneak peeks of our new designs, we’re very happy to welcome you to the new Talk London!
The platform is still in beta version, which means that it is not the final version and more edits and updates will follow.
Our old platform last got a make-over in 2017 and the technology it was running on needed a full upgrade. We used the opportunity to make improvements based on your feedback.
What’s new?
-
A fresh design, but we kept our familiar pink colour as so many of you told us you liked that.
-
Big consultations are now gathered on an ‘issue page’, where you can read more about the background, see the different stages in the timeline and find all the related surveys and discussions together. This was a new feature a lot of you were keen to see. The page you’re on now is an issue page, and going forward this is how we’ll present our work.
-
Lots of you told us you don’t always comment on our discussions, so we’ve created new and easy ways to have your say. To show your support for another member’s comment or idea, you can now click the little arrow to ‘upvote’ it or click the heart icon to show you care.
As always, your feedback is very welcome! It will help us improve Talk London over the next few months, as we continue to shape our new platform.
What do you think of our new online community platform? What features are you most looking forward to use?
Tell us in the discussion below.

Community Member 3 years agoThe password requirements are ridiculous, there is no critical information held here allow the password to be simpler and I can decide how complex it needs to be.

Official Representative 3 years agoThank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that our password requirements are causing frustration.
Your Talk London account contains your personal data and is protected by a password.
City Hall introduced a new password policy on 4 December 2019, to strengthen its approach to preventing unauthorised access to our systems. Our password policy complies with the latest guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre.
We hope this helps explain our requirements.

A small suggestion: at present there is no search function. This makes it difficult to ensure that posting a new threat doesn't duplicate something already posted by someone else.

As an outsider, not living in England, it would be helpful for me, too, trying to find out what is happening in the neighborhoods that I like to frequent when I go to your area, not that I am able to get there at all with the pandemic.

And where does "Someone" think I should have gone? leapt into the road? I didn't hear the cyclist behind me, wasn't aware of her until she nudged me out of the way.
Show less of commentIf a cyclist lacks the courage to ride in the road they should walk, as I do.
And there's cyclists who don't stop at lights controlled pedestrian crossings when the lights turn green for pedestrians, just pedal straight through

Community Member 4 years agoThe site is very difficult to navigate. I can’t find the space to contribute nor can I find all the suggestions already made. A simpler site would be helpful.

Has anyone heard how much childcare costs? More than £1000 per month per child. In Europe it is free or much much cheaper or funded by the state or government.
Show less of commentChild care should be reasonable to support families and working parents. Some parents have no option but to stay at home solely to save on childcare. Should it be unaffordable to have children and get care so parents can work fulltime or part time?
