#MandelaMile offers a unique opportunity for people around the world to champion Madiba’s legacy. ‘Go the extra mile’ for a freer, fairer world and spark more peace, health, justice and equality in this long walk to freedom.
Londoners are invited to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nelson Mandela by walking the "Mandela Mile" along Whitehall to Trafalgar Square, home of South Africa House, the scene of anti-apartheid demonstrations and later where Mandela addressed vast crowds, and then
on to Mandela's bust at the South Bank Centre. Others may choose the London Docklands route, beginning at the East Entrance to ExCeL London and passing alongside the Royal Docks.
