THE WORLD'S GREAT RIVERS and the life they sustain on land and in water are under threat from climate change. Often overlooked in debates about climate change, the riverine environment is vital to our understanding of climate risk and resilience, water resources management and water security.

This seminar explores four of the world's ancient rivers - the Thames, Jordan, Indus and Ganges - in their historic context as sacred rivers. It addresses their contemporary challenges, including trans-boundary ones, with leading experts from different communities - history, faith, climate change & environment. The seminar seeks to share experiences and identify common agendas for action, including policy recommendations.

Organised in partnership with the Museum of London, Thames Estuary Partnership, The Third Pole, India Climate Dialogue and EcoPeace Middle East. The venue is Southwark Cathedral, the historic Anglican Cathedral enjoys a special and ancient relationship with the Thames.

As a bonus, we are delighted to screen the award-winning new documentary, The Living Thames, featuring Sir David Attenborough, as an option for those attending the seminar. The film will be introduced by the filmmaker, Dorothy Leiper.
