The Paris Agreement gave the world hope that humanity can effectively address the global climate change challenge and last week we witnessed the UK announce its intention to set a net-zero target date of 2050, making it the first major economy to legislate an end date for its contribution to global warming.
However, there is still a gap between ambitious pledges and the action needed to deliver this change. Limiting the increase in global average temperature to 1.5°C is within reach – but only if we take strong action now across all levels of government and all segments of society. We need leaders from business, academic institutions, regional and local governments and civil society to come together to deliver the climate action needed to make real change.
Join us in a conversation hosted by C40, CDP and WWF to explore how the UK can create an Alliance for Climate Action (ACA) to deliver this necessary change. The ACA is a global network of domestic multi-sector coalitions committed to supporting the delivery and enhancement of their countries’ climate goals. ACA connects cities, states, the private sector, investors, universities and civil society at the domestic level so that they can work with each other and with their national governments to drive climate action.
