In its Togetherness Strategy, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) sets out plans for improving diversity and inclusion across the organisation.
Following reports that a “culture of casual racism and misogyny remains prevalent within pockets of the LFB” [1], the London Fire Commissioner will be questioned by London Assembly Members on how to build a brigade that truly represents the capital’s communities.
Members will also seek an update on the progress of actions taken by the Mayor in respect of cladding and building safety.
Over four years after the Grenfell Tower tragedy, many Londoners are still living in buildings with dangerous cladding and other fire safety defects which are assessed as high risk.
The London Assembly Fire Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee will meet tomorrow to discuss building safety and inclusion in the LFB. The guests are:

- Paul Jennings, Assistant Commissioner, LFB
- Tim Powell, Director of People, LFB
- Kate Bonham, Assistant Director of People Services, LFB
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 22 September 2021 from 10am, in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
