Mind the gap: Health inequalities among Londoners

High blood pressure is common in BAME communities
Created on
01 March 2022

The Health Inequalities Implementation Plan for 2021-2024 was published in December 2021, detailing the actions the Mayor and partners will take to tackle health inequalities in London in the coming years.

Under the Plan’s five themes, there are around 200 commitments. But how much funding is in place to achieve these, and is it realistic to deliver against such a large number of pledges?

The London Assembly Health Committee, responsible for leading scrutiny of the plan, will meet tomorrow to discuss in detail the six key commitments, to understand how they were agreed and how they will be delivered.

The guests are:

  • Professor Kevin Fenton CBE, Regional Director for London, Office of Health Improvement and Disparities, and Statutory Health Advisor to the Greater London Authority (GLA)
  • Dr Tom Coffey OBE, Mayoral Health Advisor
  • Vicky Hobart, Head of Health, GLA Health Team and Deputy Statutory Health Adviser to the GLA
  • Jazz Bhogal, Assistant Director of Health, Education and Youth, GLA

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 2 March from 2pm, in Rooms G02 – G03 – G04, LFB Headquarters, 169 Union Street, London, SE1 0LL.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
