London Economic Action Partnership – value for money?

St Paul's Cathedral, London
Created on
11 September 2018
  • LEAP spent in the region of £44 million in 2017/18
  • LEAP will have distributed more than half a billion pounds by 2020

The London Mayor Sadiq Khan says he wants to be the “most pro-business Mayor yet”. The London Economic Action Partnership – LEAP - is his key lever for promoting economic growth.

But with Central Government exerting more influence on LEAP, how is the partnership responding to the Mayor’s business priorities - skills, growth and low pay?

The London Assembly Economy Committee will tomorrow press LEAP on its transparency and accountability and ask how the partnership ensures value for money. The Committee also wants to know if London Growth Hub is meeting the needs of microbusinesses.

The following guests will attend:

From 2.00pm to 2.45pm

  • James Price, Campaign Manager, Taxpayers Alliance
  • Dr Jamie Whyte, Director of Research, Institute of Economic Affairs
  • Adam Fineberg, Adviser on economic development and public services

From 2.45pm to 4.00pm

  • Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor for Business
  • Angus Knowles-Cutler, Co-Deputy Chair, London Economic Action Partnership
  • Dr Celia Caulcott, Board Member, London Economic Action Partnership

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 12 September at 2:00pm in The Chamber, at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed via webcast or on our YouTube channel.
