Crossrail has shown that there are huge risks even in the most high-profile of capital projects. And Transport for London is managing a number of large-scale ventures at any one time, spending around £1.5 billion a year.
These projects include:
- Tube modernisation, including Circle, District and Hammersmith & City line
- Station and rolling stock upgrades
- Healthy streets and air quality initiatives
- Northern line and Barking Riverside extensions
- Crossrail 2
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will examine how TfL’s capital programme is funded, how it matches the Mayor’s priorities and how it ensures value for money for taxpayers.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 21 from 10.00am in Committee Room 5 at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
