Homes on TfL Land – what’s the hold up?

Created on
25 March 2019

In May 2016, Transport for London (TfL) told the Mayor it would use its land to deliver starts on 10,000 homes by 2020. [1]

However, a 2019 report to the February Homes for Londoners Board indicates that around 1,300 homes will now be started by March 2020. [2]

In total, just 313 homes are currently under construction on TfL land. [3]

  • How many starts will meet the original 2020 deadline?
  • When will the first residents move into a home built on TfL land?
  • What impact will the Crossrail delay have on TfL’s housing targets, revenues and wider property development programme?
  • Which sites have been identified for Build to Rent and who are the partners?

Tomorrow, the London Assembly Housing Committee will get an update from TfL on their residential development programme and hear from some of their partners on how partnership working is going.

The guests are:

  • Graeme Craig, Commercial Development Director, Transport for London
  • Daniel Lovatt, Head of Property Development, Transport for London
  • Councillor Clare Coghill, Leader, London Borough of Waltham Forest
  • Lianna Etkind, Campaigns Manager, London Community Land Trust

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 26 March at 3.30pm in Committee Room 5, City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast.
