Pantomimes are the very thing that reminds us all of Christmas. From flamboyant costumes to the ‘oh no he’s not’ jokes, Christmas isn’t Christmas for a lot of people without a trip to the pantomime.
With the second wave of COVID-19 in full swing across the UK and new COVID-19 restrictions coming into force on Thursday, how are pantomimes planning to put on shows safely in December, if at all?
The Economy Committee will tomorrow look at how COVID-19 will affect London’s Christmas economy such as theatre, especially pantomimes, retail, hospitality and tourism.
The guests are:
- Christopher Biggins, Actor and TV presenter
- Kate Nicholls, Chief Executive, UKHospitality
- Jace Tyrrell, Chief Executive, New West End Company
- Paul Fleming, General Secretary, Equity
- Dominic Curran, Policy Adviser – Property, British Retail Consortium
- A representative from Tudor Markets
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 4 November 2020 from 10am. In line with government advice, this meeting will take place virtually.
Media and members of the public can watch the meeting live here.
