Responding to the Government’s announcement of new rules on home working, mandatory face coverings indoors, and the NHS Covid Pass being mandatory in large venues, Caroline Russell AM, Chair of the London Assembly Health Committee, said:
“London is particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. Our city has been at the epicentre of the pandemic in the UK, and has experienced high rates of infection, hospitalisation and, tragically, deaths.
“One year on since the first COVID-19 vaccine was administered, vaccines remain our biggest hope in our fight against this terrible virus.
“As the Government announces new measures to combat rising cases, the London Assembly Health Committee reiterates its call for all Londoners who have not taken up the offer of a vaccine or booster to do so, as soon as possible.
“We also urge all Londoners to follow rules on face coverings, as well as washing hands regularly, keeping indoor spaces well ventilated, and maintaining a social distance where possible.”
