On the fifth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, Anne Clarke AM, Chair of the London Assembly Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee, said:
“London will never forget the 72 precious lives lost during the devastating events at Grenfell Tower on 14 June 2017.
“Five years on, our thoughts are with the people who lost their lives, their loved ones, and those who survived the tragedy. London stands united with you in your grief, today and always.
“We are also reminded of the unwavering strength and resilience of the Grenfell community in their tireless campaign for building safety and ensuring nothing like this can ever happen again.
“All Londoners should feel safe in their homes. We will continue to stand up for Londoners by examining fire and building safety issues in the capital. On Wednesday, the Committee will meet to discuss reforming our fire and rescue services with the London Fire Commissioner.”
