Responding to a new release of Transport for London (TfL) Tube dust monitoring reports, Zack Polanski AM, Chair of the London Assembly Environment Committee, said:
“We should all be concerned about the harmful dust on the London Underground and the potential health risks it could pose for both passengers and workers.
“Tomorrow marks exactly two years since the Environment Committee wrote to the Mayor calling for Tube dust to be a bigger priority for Transport for London (TfL).
“It is encouraging that the reports released by TfL today suggest a decrease in the dust levels at some of our city’s busiest stations, including King’s Cross and Oxford Circus.
“However, one of the most worrying aspects of our investigation was the fact that relatively little is yet understood about the health impacts of Tube dust – and this still remains the case two years on.”
