London’s creative industries represent a large chunk of the capital’s economy. In 2015, the contribution of the creative industries in the capital was estimated at £42 billion.[1]

The Mayor’s draft Cultural Strategy for London builds on the principle of “culture for all Londoners” and has four core priorities:

  • Love London – more people experiencing and creating culture on their doorstep
  • Culture and Good Growth – supporting, saving and sustaining cultural places and spaces
  • Creative Londoners – investing in a diverse creative workforce for the future
  • World City – maintaining a global powerhouse in a post-Brexit world

On Monday, the London Assembly Economy Committee will discuss the Mayor’s draft Culture Strategy and how it will deliver on its commitments. The guests are:

  • Justine Simons, Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries
  • Ben Evans, Chair, Cultural Leadership Board
  • Shonagh Manson, Assistant Director, Culture & Creative Industries, Greater London Authority
  • Cllr Clare Coghill, Leader of the Council, London Borough of Waltham Forest
  • Sharon Ament, Director, Museum of London
  • Jenny Waldman CBE, Director, 14-18 NOW

The meeting will take place on Monday, 26 March from 10:00am in The Chamber (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast or YouTube.
